y4e center etiquette

It takes a village to create a serene environment that allows students to experience a mindful practice.

We ask that you please read through our etiquette guidelines prior to visiting us.

  • Be punctual. Arriving a few minutes early allows for a calm transition into the studio space.

  • Turn off or set your tech devices to silent mode when you enter the wellness center. The group studio rooms where classes take place are No Tech Zones. This ensures minimal distractions during the practice.

  • Maintain a quiet atmosphere in the yoga studio. Avoid unnecessary conversations, and if you need to speak with someone, do so quietly in designated areas.

  • Practice good personal hygiene by coming to class clean. Refrain from using heavy perfumes or scents that may be disruptive to others.

  • If you’re not feeling well, we ask that you please stay home to respect the well-being and health of your classmates.

  • Please remove your shoes upon entering the Wellness studio. We have shoe racks when you first come in and coat racks to to hang your belongings. This helps keep the studio clean and maintains a hygienic environment.

  • Set up your mat with consideration for the space and others. Ensure you have ample room while respecting the personal space of fellow yogis.

  • If you need props, such as blocks or straps, set them up quietly to avoid disturbing others. Return props to their designated areas after use.

  • Avoid wearing strong perfumes, colognes, or essential oils, as these scents can be overpowering and may cause discomfort for others, especially in close quarters.

  • Respect your own body's limitations. If you need to modify a pose or take a break, do so mindfully. It's okay to honor your individual practice.

  • If you need to communicate with the instructor or fellow yogis during class, use a whisper or discreet hand signals to minimize disruption.

  • Plan to stay for the final relaxation (savasana) unless there's an unavoidable reason to leave early. Leaving quietly before savasana concludes is acceptable.

  • If you use studio-provided props, clean and store them properly after class. Leave the space as you found it.

  • Yoga studios are places of respect and mindfulness. Refrain from making inappropriate comments or engaging in disruptive behavior.

  • Familiarize yourself with and adhere to the specific policies of the yoga studio. This includes guidelines on sign-in procedures, cancellations, and memberships.

  • Consider thanking your instructor and fellow yogis after class. A simple expression of gratitude contributes to a positive and supportive community atmosphere.
